Snowed Under? Here’s How to Reclaim Your Focus and Tackle What Really Counts

by Andrea Szabó

Hi Andrea Csilla,

This morning, as I was preparing for my important tasks, I noticed that there were still green tomatoes waiting to be picked in my garden. For a moment, I thought about dealing with them right away, but then I remembered my own advice: the morning hours should be reserved for the most important tasks. The tomato picking could wait until the afternoon when I'm less mentally fresh, but a bit of gardening feels quite good.

This little morning dilemma perfectly illustrates what I want to talk to you about today: the "I'm too busy" paradox.

I'm Snowed Under...

Do you know this feeling? The "I'm too busy" paradox often traps us. When we have too much to do, our attention narrows, and we focus only on the tasks immediately in front of us - which are often not the most important ones. In the evening, we realize that we didn't have time for the essential things.

What's the solution? Slow down!

  1. Start your day with important tasks! Emails can wait.
  2. If you feel overwhelmed, stop! Take 15-30 minutes to do nothing. You might be surprised how many problems solve themselves.

Personal tip

I complete my important tasks in the morning when I'm mentally most active. I leave less demanding activities, like gardening, for the afternoon, which helps rest my mind.
